WiFi Information

Why use WiFi?

WiFi is a cost-effective, simple solution for Allegion customers who want to use the Allegion ENGAGE platform to get started quickly with the configuration of a site. This is for sites that do not require real-time updates and can wait for periodic system updates (typically once every 24 hours). Most ENGAGE devices have WiFi capability, whereas the need for real-time updates requires the purchase of additional hardware (a Gateway).

ENGAGE devices use the local WiFi network to automatically update user access and device settings. The use of WiFi by an ENGAGE device is not an access control requirement, but a convenience. It should be noted however, that when ENGAGE devices operate with WiFi disabled in a standalone mode; some features are less convenient.

Principles of WiFi Communication

During WiFi operation the device may call in for various pieces of information using various APIs. These may be used for both 210 or 410 IP modes.

These include the following:

1) PUT /swordfish/lock/Config

  • Configurations get uploaded to the device (lock)

2) GET /swordfish/lock/db/{timestamp}

  • Gets the database including the configurations

3) POST /swordfish/lock/audit

  • Posts audits for a lock to the host server

4) POST /swordfish/lock/alert

  • Posts alerts for a lock to the host server

5) POST /swordfish/lock/certificates/current

  • Performs request for an updated root certificate
