Adding Security to the Communication

Acting as their own Certificate Authority (CA), SAM partners are able to create and sign their own digital certificates for use on their network. Through the exchange and validation of digital certificates between the client and the server, the network can become secure.

When a certificate validation error occurs, it indicates that the current self-signed certificate is not valid and is no longer up to date. This means that a new certificate needs to be generated and updated so that is can be made available to devices.

The details can be found in the following sections or you can select from the Side Menu Navigation Panel.

  • Generating a Root Pair (CA and Server) Certificate

  • Generating an Intermediate Pair Certificate

  • Configuring the API Host Server (to make the new certificate available to devices).

  • Enabling the TLS Connection
