Welcome to the Schlage Home - API Blog! Here you can find information regarding new releases when using our Schlage Home API platform.
July 30th, 2025
We are initiating a limited trial of an improvement designed to ensure access codes are accurately reflected on your app. Within the next week, a limited number of devices will experience this feature as we work toward making the improvement generally available to all devices in the future.
What's New?
As part of this platform update, access codes will be synchronized based on the lock's storage. Users may notice new access codes appearing or deleting without manual intervention. This behind-the-scenes upgrade helps ensure that access codes are always up-to-date and relevant.
Why This Matters
The access code synchronization feature helps keep access codes up to date. It will improve overall data integrity.
What Partners Can Expect
For partners who have integrated their apps with our platform, a sync will occur when there is a detected mismatch on the access code record. You should receive a corresponding webhook depending on which event takes place (creation or deletion). There may be webhooks not initiated by you or your users, and this can indicate a sync has taken place. We want you to be prepared to support any related questions or concerns. This update will be exclusive to
Encode Deadbolt and Lever devices.
Guidance on two main scenarios you may encounter:
- New Access Code Added
- Users may see new access codes appear without having added them.
- These access codes are pre-existing and the sync helps correctly display them in the app.
- Recommended Guidance: Reassure customers that the lock remains secure and these codes were already active on the device.
- Access Code Deleted
- Users may see access codes disappear without having deleted them.
- These access codes do not exist on the lock, would not work on the keypad and the sync helps remove them from the app.
- Recommended Guidance: Reassure customers that the lock remains secure and these codes reflect the lock's active codes.
- In general, ensure your systems handle webhook retries and avoid duplicate processing to maintain data integrity.
Timeline
We will begin a temporary trial of this feature on
Monday August 4th, 2025. We will provide subsequent communication about general availability in the future.
What's Next?
During the trial period, we'll be collecting feedback to make any necessary improvements. We encourage partners to share their experiences and insights with us.
Stay tuned for updates as we expand this feature to the wider partner platform later this quarter.
