ENGAGE technology was designed from the ground up with security in mind. ENGAGE technology leverages industry-leading security practices, including AES 256 bit and TLS/SSL encryption to provide customers with a secure, dependable experience.
TLS/SSL provides secure communication between clients and servers. TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secured Socket Layer) protocols allow the connection between the client and server to be encrypted. By encrypting the communication, the data being exchanged cannot be read by a third party. Allegion ENGAGE devices use TLS/SSL protocols to ensure the connection between devices and our SAM partners servers.
Encryption is the process by which data is converted into an encrypted (non-human readable) format. Only the receiver should be able to decrypt and read the original message. When unencrypted data is exchanged, a third party (hacker) could intercept and read the data. Data that is intercepted can be tampered with and could compromise the integrity of the system.

ENGAGE devices exchange information regularly between the device and the server. The information exchanged must be secure and reliable.
